Early April, waiting for showers.

The chapel.

During my spring break, I visited Florida Southern College's campus in order to experience Frank Lloyd Wright's Pfeiffer Chapel and the surrounding architecture for a term paper I would be writing. Although the weather was sickly, and although I got lost for a good half hour just driving around the city of Lakeland, the trip was definitely worth it.

The chapel was completed in 1938, the first of nine realized for the campus. Wright planned the project, known as the "Child of the Sun," to be a new, interconnected college campus experience. The Wright side of campus is connected via zigzagging walkways with overhead cut outs that remind one of Native American symbols or some distant, but distinct, culture facilitating education and inspiration. Even in the rain the site was mesmerizing.

Tailoring.

I'm going to trim the extraneous accumulations down to a reasonable minimum, to preserve both the quality and the flavor of the basic, yet divine cuts of enlightenment.

From the Serpent and the Rainbow.

"To understand... you must think of a glass of water. You cannot avoid touching the glass, but it is just a means of support. It is the water that slakes your thirst and it is the water, not the glass, that keeps you alive."

Wade Davis, The Serpent and the Rainbow
